Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has had a difficult time since joining the North London club and he has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot.
The player is currently on loan at Brentford and he has now opened up on what happened to him during the pre-season.
It seems that the player was expecting the newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou to throw him a Tottenham lifeline and the Australian certainly gave him hope initially. Reguilon claims that he was very happy with the manager and the Australian was impressed with his training and performance during pre-season as well.
The Spanish defender added that Postecoglou revealed to the player that he was a part of the squad going forward. However, the 58-year-old chose to leave him out of training the very next day.
Reguilon has now stated that he still does not understand the situation and he is baffled by the manager’s decision.
He said: “During pre-season I was very happy and Postecoglou was happy with me, also the staff. I was playing like a normal player, all the games. The week before, I went to see him. ‘You want me at the club?’ ‘Yes, I have to do a list and you are in my squad’. It was strange. The next day I was out of the training and I didn’t know what happened”.

The 27-year-old believes that he has a lot to contribute and he is good enough for Tottenham. It remains to be seen with the North London outfit are prepared to give him opportunities next season.
He has a contract with them until the summer of 2025 and it is highly likely that the Tottenham will look to get rid of him permanently in the summer. The defender does not want to sit on the bench at Spurs and therefore it would be ideal for him to move on as well.
