Tottenham and Argentina could clash over the availability of Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero after both players joined their national team for their World Cup qualifiers.
Argentina is a UK red list country and that means when both players return to Spurs, they will have to quarantine for around 10 days before they can join their teammates for training and playing matches.
Premier League clubs had been reluctant to release their players to the red list countries, but the Argentinian players at Tottenham and Aston Villa were keen on joining up with their national team and had their way.
Sky Sports reports that while Villa had an agreement with Argentina that their players will be released after their Sunday match against Brazil, so they would miss just one Premier League game, Spurs didn’t have such an agreement.
The report says regardless, Argentina will force all the players to stay with them until the end of the international break, which would see them miss two Premier League games.
Sky Sports posted the news on Twitter and fans debated another club vs country row. Here are some of the responses:
What will happen if they miss 2 club games? It should always be country over club

Cant believe International football is still going on when you have to isolate after going abroad. Was always going to cause issues

Aston villa actually went out of their way to try and accommodate to the players needs and desires and this is the slap in the face we get.. just means that in the future these players will not be released.
