It Is With Regret Mauricio, You’re Fired: The case for the prosecution

By The Boy -

Pochettino has hit a wall and ‘securing a point at home against Watford provides zero comfort.

Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night is largely irrelevant. We could win 4-0 (our guests are way out @11/1 for the win) but the trip to Liverpool on the following Sunday will ultimately decide the gaffer’s fate.

As per a previous blog today,

The future is not bright. It’s as if after over a decade of prodigious management, Levy lost his mind.

One dark, stormy night, a stark realization washed over him. That on his watch Tottenham would ever be a conventional silverware winning side.

But there was a way out, a way of still making millions.

“I’ll knock this down, and build and NFL stadium in the middle of a shopping centre!”

There is no cavalry coming. We cannot be sold. The business is leveraged to a point whereby only foetus could buy THFC and ever hope to get a return in their lifetime.

Here then are a handful of incontrovertibly nasty symptoms that suggest that Poch’s time is sadly up.

GIVING THE BALL AWAY

Yesterday Tottenham lost the ball to Watford on 133 occasions, a feat only bettered by another washout performance against a struggling side Burnley, when Spurs lost 2:1 on 23rd of February 2019.

This is precisely the sort of indicator one gets when players are no longer fully focused.

WING-BACKS THAT WON’T

Danny Rose was appalling. Danny attempted 5 crosses and only 1 found a Spurs player. However, compared to Serge Aurier, he looked like a world cup winner.

Aurier had a nightmare. 2 successful cross out of 14 attempts points towards the Ivorian being on the Watford payroll.

This stubborn insistence on enforcing system upon a group of players that simply cannot deliver it. Jeez, Trippier was better than this.

MÜLLER FRUIT CORNERS

Winning a corner is a futile exercise, if your corner kick taker cannot beat the first man. Step forward Erik Lamela. They must have put one of hips back on, the wrong way round.

Who’s taking the training?

HARRY KANED

Mr One Of Our Own has become a marginal figure at Tottenham, and against the mighty Watford, Kane touched the ball just 10 times.

This isn’t an attack on Harry, rather it’s highlighting a really nasty symptom of a dysfunctional side, when it’s best player can’t get the service he needs.

He tried, Rose being a classic example of what he can do. Lack of Churn(ENIC/LEVY) for want of a better word is to blame not Poch. ‘Busted flush, gone as far as he can’. Yes for what he has to work with not as a coach.

Nah, Modric, Rakitic and De Bruyne are the only superior players to Eriksen.

After Kane, Eriksen is our second most important player. Well, was. He has obviously checked out mentally from THFC now n

Out of over 20 players signed under Poch only Alderweirld,Son,Dele and Moura have been worth their salt, I am hoping to add N’dombele and Sessegnon to that list. The rest have been bad or bang average.

Apart from Ozil, each and every midfielder in that stats list has a far better all round game than eriksen

Eriksens goals also slack behind the best midfielders.. His ratio is on a par with mata whos often benched and is again slacking behind the best

Its not just eriksen who needs replacing.. Its half the team now… As the Boy touched on here months ago we need surgery now…. The fact players are still clinging on to eriksens assist stats as if he is our saviour doesnt seem right.. A serial loser who we have relied on for far too long wants out, and yiddos are still trying to suck his ass.. He is a cancer and the definition of spursy… It is worrying who levy will get to replace him though.. Could be a quality all round midfielder who can pass shoot tackle and fight then we move forward..

If CE signs pre contact and I were Poch I would tell him not to bother coming back at all. If this is his commitment when trying to sign a deal away imagine how bad he will be one he has a deal!

Eriksens stats flatter him.. he has played so much with no competition for his place hes guaranteed started every game. He never fights so never gets injured. Each and every season he never finishes top of assists, he was always beat by the likes of hazard and de bruyne who won the playmaker awards.. Going into the stats deeper erikson is our spine who we rely on, but his distribution is way behind the prems best passers… 81 odd percent is slacking way behind… I think eriksens assist stats would be poor without kane.. Like his distribution.. A lot of sideways and backwards too.. Eriksen cant take people on with the ball and he cant tackle…. Hes like ozil, an assist king but so many flaws to his game… The fact he is always beat by someone every season for assists (which is all he is elite at thanks to kane) and the fact he folds everytime a final or title race is on.. 5 years and its clear eriksen is the bridesmaid, never the bride.. The winners are set apart by their never say die mentality.. Christian has all the technical ability but hes no winner he hasnt got it upstairs.. No man is bigger than the club..

It is true we have nobody else in the squad to do what does.
When he goes along with a significant number of others from that squad,we will have one hell of a rebuilding job to do.
My fear is that no way will Levy invest the required funds to replace the players leaving.
Realistically we’re talking hundreds of millions and once the CL money dries up,he’s in panic mode.

I hope that when CE23 actually leaves, he goes into Levy’s office and takes a dump on his desk. And says to him “Get Poch to polish that”. Daniel must have been a little pre-occupied the last couple of years to neglect the contract situation of certain players. And now it’s coming round to bite him on the arse big time.

I don’t know if he believes that we are entitled to win. Entitlement is more for Man U, Man C and Liverpool fans. What most on here want is a team that can win a trophy not fill ENIC’s coffers from placement earnings. The only thing Poch hasn’t managed to do yet is walk on water because, up until this year, he’s been working miracles. He deserves credit for that but he also has to take valid criticism as well.

Impressive as that list is,if you took it up until the end of december last year I doubt the comparisons would remain the same.
Perhaps this January was the time to move Eriksen on,at least Levy might have seen a profit. The same applies to Ozil.

It’s true Eriksen doesn’t win as many 50-50s as journeymen like Sissoko or Lamela. His task has been to make the team tick and create goals. Once he’s gone which spurs player is going to replace his name in a list like this?:

Goals and Assists in past three full seasons, 2016/17 to 2018/19 (and Combined Total)

Eriksen: 36 G, 54 A (90)
De Bruyne: 25 G, 53 A (78)
Pogba: 31 G, 29 A (60)
James: 26 G, 32 A (58)
Pjanic: 19 G, 36 A (55)
Özil: 23 G, 31 A (54)
Isco: 26 G, 20 A (46)
Rakitic: 17 G, 22 A (39)
Ndombele: 5 G, 25 A (30)
Modric: 7 G, 21 A (28)

Crooks seems to think spurs are in some way entitled to be winning something under enic and I’m not sure why. It’s a club that last won a serious trophy almost three decades ago and has had the lowest net spend in the PL during the enic era

Poch has just been voted 3rd best manager in the world by UEFA, but he is apoarently a no mark because he has failed to win anything on a net spend of £15m in the entirety of his time at spurs before this summer, lowest in the PL. Despite that disadvantage he has finished above two or more of the oligarch clubs for four consecutive seasons and reached the final of the Champions League. Which is why he’s the first spurs coach to be coveted by the world’s biggest clubs.

Crooks should have been asked to name another coach out there who has overcome a similar competitive disadvantage compared to their rivals to achieve what poch has over the past four seasons. Had he been asked that, I think the flow of words would have dried up.

First Eriksen is rarely in the physio room because he doesn’t go into a tackle or any 50/50 balls. He is a sissy and has no spine. When you sit back and don;t get involved its not hard to stay healthy. That’s why he goes missing in big games.

Second maybe Poch has decided to show Levy what the hell he has done by not buying anyone in the last 2 seasons, except players Poch didn’t want or need. This is what Daniel wanted, well its what he’s got.

Garth Crooks isn’t on the ENIC payroll I take it. He’s right – football is about winning, not competing. Blowing off opportunities to win tangible rewards that look good on a player’s CV for Top 4 every year isn’t going to cut it for quite a few players. Strangely, given our set up and selections so far this season it is almost like Poch is setting himself and the team up to fail. Doesn’t make sense in an honest world.

The more I watch Vertonghen (32) & Alderweirld (30) this season I am happy that we won’t be watching this pairing for the next two or three seasons. They are slow and are past their best. They have been great players but putting emotions to one side it’s best they move on.They are already the oldest centre back pairing of the top six teams and it shows.

About time these type of comments were made by someone as high profile as Crooks, only to highlight to people including the club hierarchy who are happy enough to think CL qualification is the b-all. Also Tony Cascarino has summed up the current situation perfectly by saying Poch does not know his best team, especially in defence. The fact Poch has not won any trophy in his managerial career is the salient point for me, as much as I like the man , he is a serial loser.

This possible signing of pre-contracts has been apparent for not only Eriksen, but Toby and Jan too.I mentioned this in a previous blog and stated that it was perfect karma for Levy. He’s a tightwad fucker and any loss of money from his grubby little paws is welcome as far as I am concerned.
We have serious issues throughout the team with both players and manager and the few million he would have picked up from these sales will not solve these problems.Sadly THFC is a neglected subsiduary of the NFL brand and a downward spiral is all we can expect. The club is dead, long live the club.

Crooks is bang on the money. It never ceases to amaze me how Pooch is lauded alongside the serial winner coaches as being one of them and one of the best. The man has never ever won anything, nothing of any note. Yes we all know he has done well to get top four for a few seasons but mainly due to the falling away of Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal during that same period. Our record against the top four is appalling and our record in semi finals is dismal. I believe he has blagged it and is now being found out big time. His team selection is quite frankly bizarre at times, his substitutions even more so and clearly his training regimes appear unable to sort out basic deficiencies like taking corners, free kicks, crossing the ball and breaking down defensive formations. He is a fitness coach primarily with a defenders mindset, bereft of creative thinking and unable to make real time adjustments during a game. He gets £8 million a year and took that money after declaring how brave the club needed to be. He then became silent and from that point the decline began.

Loyalty is a two way street, even in the mercenary world of professional football. If Levy had given new contracts to Toby, Jan and Eriksen several seasons ago, which incidentally they deserved, then the problems that are now coming to a head would never have occurred. I suspect that all three players will sign pre-contracts with other clubs for the next season, thereby denying Levy any moolah. Quite amusing if you consider that Levy, in his absurdity, valued Eriksen at 150 mill and Toby at 75 mill last summer. Anyone fancy some schadenfreude at our popular chairman’s expense?
