One of the classic symptoms of a football club that isn’t going anywhere, are players that are on the books for a substantial period of time, that in the final analysis, never achieved really anything meaningful. Probably great guys, nothing bad to say about them, but they won nothing. Again, for the wilfully hard of comprehending, in professional sports, that’s the metric. Think of Mark Noble at West Ham. Think of… Erik Lamela.
I can think of few things more incendiary for the club’s social media team to publish this week, than some quite frankly empty chutzpah from Erik Lamela – that we’ve been listening to from the lad for the last 8 years. And that’s the kicker – the Tweet even highlights that he’s been flirting about to little good purpose for eight trophy-less years.
For a business in so much debt, with so little supporter money coming in via match-day activity, I’d be keeping everyone onside.
"After so many years we were close so many times to achieve big things. I think now, this season has to be the season where we go for it."

🗣️ @ErikLamela on preparing for his eighth season at Spurs.#THFC ⚪️ #COYS

I remember reading a story at the time he signed that Roma were astonished that Spurs were interested in him, as they had other players they rated more highly than Lamela. Astonished but ever so grateful as he was Spurs record signing at the time, £30 million in 2013 was a large fee. Slice it and dice it whatever way you want a major disappointment.
He was so good the season before he signed I remember thinking “they say he isnt the Balio replacement but…………….”
They were right. On another board the rumours of his long spell out were thought provoking to say the least but at least he has fight/bite.
Maybe some Italian team will come in with a low offer and we can wave him goodbye.
“I av a bruise on my left er…..ea…..i mean ear…better not train, need medical no”
8 years and he still cant speak English…..Leave..please just leave…..
Not many better squad players WHEN fit. But. Maybe the time has come.
