Insider: Spurs urged to complete signing of ‘brilliant’ World Cup star who will be a ‘difference maker’ for Conte

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Paul Robinson thinks the club should consider signing Denzel Dumfries.

Emerson Royal has largely held down the right wing-back position for Spurs this season despite his poor performances due to the lack of options available to Conte.

According to Calciomercato, the north Londoners are interested in signing the 26-year-old, who joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 after shining for the Netherlands at the European Championships.

The former Spurs keeper told Football Insider exclusively that Dumfries, 26, is a “top player” who is “brilliant” at both ends of the pitch.

He told Football Insider: “Dumfries is a top player.

“After the Euros, I was adamant he would be coming to the Premier League. He was heavily linked with Everton at the time. I have to say I was very surprised that he did not come to the Premier League after that tournament.

“I have watched him very closely. He is brilliant.

“He is athletic and has great ability going forward but he can also defend.

“The way Conte wants to play, he would be perfect. I would love to see him at Tottenham.”

The report from Insider claims that Conte will be willing to include the former Barcelona man in a potential deal for the Netherlands international.

The right-back has two and half years left in his current contract with Inter. The 38-cap international has been called a “difference maker” and has 17 goal involvements in 65 appearances for the club.

The 6 ft 2 powerhouse could provide a surge down the right for Conte as he looks to bolster his squad, but he may face competition from local rivals Chelsea, who have also been linked with him.
