Initial talks held between European giants and Spurs for the transfer of ‘outstanding’ €30m midfielder

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been strongly linked with a move away in January.

The Danish midfielder has seen himself fall down the pecking order under manager Ange Postecoglou, with Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr becoming the preferred choices for the midfield.

But he has been absolutely ‘outstanding‘ whenever he has been asked to play with almost all his appearances coming off the bench.

However, the lack of playing time has led to speculation about Hojbjerg’s potential departure in the January transfer window

Clubs such as Juventus and Atletico Madrid have expressed interest in signing the midfielder.

Atletico Madrid came close to signing him in the summer transfer window but could not strike a deal with Spurs. They are expected to return for him in January.

Juventus meanwhile have emerged as a strong contenders to sign him with the latest report claiming that the Italian giants have begun talks with Spurs regarding him.

Fabiana della Valle reported that both Giovanni Manna and sporting director  were in London for discussions, exploring the possibility of signing Hojbjerg.

They held ‘exploratory talks’ with Spurs for their Danish midfielder.

Tottenham, however, has made it clear that they are only open to a permanent transfer, seeking a fee of €30 million.

Tottenham’s decision to part ways with Hojbjerg in January remains uncertain, as their lack squad depth, specially in midfield and defense.

With both Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr expected to be away for the AFCON in January, Ange Postecoglou’s options may be limited.

While doubts persist about his future, Hojbjerg’s recent performance demonstrated his value as a reliable presence in the midfield, and Spurs may continue to rely on him as a vital option this season.
