Spurs are reportedly leading the race to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
This is according to the latest report from London World who claim that the club’s representatives are ‘in touch’ with the player and are ‘increasingly confident’ of securing his services in the summer.
The report further claims that Spurs are also willing to meet his demands for an increased wage.
Zaha has been a target for Spurs in the past. In fact, they tried to sign him multiple times under Pochettino but failed to meet Palace’s valuation.
With his contract set to expire this summer, the player is free to contact foreign clubs and negotiate a pre-contract agreement.
While other clubs, including AS Roma and Manchester United as per the report are also interested in signing the winger, it appears that Spurs are in pole position to secure his signature.
Zaha has been a standout player for Palace over the years and has been the driving force behind the team’s success.
In 450 appearances for Crystal Palace, he has 165 goal contributions, scoring 89 goals and provided 76 assists.
He is regarded as one of the finest wingers in the league and would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to any team.
Palace have accepted that they will lose their star player for free in the summer.
Having spent almost his entire career in a Palace shirt, the club is expected to encourage Zaha to seek a new opportunity ahead of next season.
Much will depend on where Spurs finish at the end of the season but if they finish top four and are being managed by the likes of Conte or Pochettino, there is no reason why Zaha would not opt to stay in London.
