“I’m hearing”, “desperate to make something happen” – Romano makes Spurs transfer claim as deadline day nears

By Mehdi Gokal -

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a new midfield signing this window looks unlikely unless Hojbjerg leaves.

Spurs kicked off the transfer window in style, securing the signings of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin early on in the window.

They also managed to get rid of quite a few fringe players, either permanently or on loan deals.

However, they entered the window with a new midfielder high on priority but have not yet signed one.

The North London club has been linked with several midfielders, most notably Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and most recently Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey. They have also been linked with Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton.

Despite the links, the transfer expert has suggested that Spurs are happy with their window and there may not be any more incomings.

As per him, Tottenham will not be desperate to sign a new midfielder in the final days of the transfer window. The only way something could happen is if there is a development regarding Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. If they receive an offer for him which is too tempting to reject, that transfer could happen.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said:

“I’m hearing that nothing is really concrete. They’re very happy with what they did with Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner. So I think Tottenham are not desperate to make something happen in the final days. The only condition I always have, it was already in December, is about Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. So in case they receive an important proposal for Hojbjerg in the final days, it still can happen.”

As per the latest regarding Hojbjerg is concerned, he has reportedly turned down an opportunity to join Lyon and wants to stay at the club for the remainder of the season.

Unless something changes between now and the deadline day, it looks like there may not be anymore incomings for Spurs this window.
