If Mourinho Can Continue To Work Unhindered, Spurs’ll Make More Money Than ENIC’s Current Model

By The Boy -

ENIC’s remit as an investment company is primarily to grow the business, to a point where supposedly, it will then be able to exponentially take Spurs to the top table of world football.

Cynics have suggested that the true aim is somewhat less honourable, even just plain old exploitative – a view that is generally greeted with a rather tired old line about all the cash from the commercial successes eventually being ploughed back into the football side of the business. Regrettably, this is something that the club have only ever hinted at in the broadest terms. with no specifics ever fleshed out.

Looking at these latest stack of numbers from Swiss Ramble it leaves little room for doubt that success breeds success.

Spurs continue to sit rather prettily in the financial stakes, but what truly separates all of these sides is achievement, and for the umpteenth time, what we grown-ups are referring to here is tangible achievement, not vague feel-good moments along the way.

Should Mourinho be allowed to continue to proceed unhindered, Spurs can finally deliver what the club have mumbled on about for so long, and never really come close to actually doing.

I’ve never heard him say he is a fan.. Even on the spurs pr ‘all or nothing’ he talks about running a business and this is the hardest business. And he hates to lose… Who doesnt… When the man talks about actual football he comes across as a complete clueless newbie.

I want winners who want to win them all.. Clubs will never win any titles, or doubles, or triples if they don’t believe in themselves.

I used to get annoyed when HH kept bemoaning ENIC and then I realised that he might be right. All that money goes to their pockets. They don’t pay into spurs, they just get money out or increase their equity. The stadium loan is paid for by club profits. They don’t invest in spurs.

If they did they would have spunked some cash on players for Poch to mix the squad up a bit in the 18/19 season. Remember we sold Mousa in Jan and then lost to Burnley in Feb. Winning would have put us 3pts behind first. Buying some players in Jan might have provided some quality/impetus to push on. Instead we were shit in the league from then on.

Yeah, if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle, I know, but it has you wondering and yet we’re still waiting. What might have happened if we bought early and paid the extra few mill to get players like Bruno Fernandes and Grealish.

Remember ENIC bought Spurs in 2001, so it can’t be anything but a long term strategy because we’ve been close and still won nothing.

Playing Devil’s Advocate here ….I am seriously worried about the Ropey League venture.
2 longish away games already planned (hopefully) and when did Wolves finish their season – 2 weeks ago? It is a bloody long slog to win it and this is with a coach who will be going for it.
I don’t care who wants this or that this is just my personal take I would rather we went big time for the 2 domestics.

They’re unable to hear the retorts of the people they’re laughing at?

You know what they say about “people who laugh first. The last laughers laugh the loudest. We’ll have the last laugh

You remind me of me when I was 17. I’m jealous of your unadulterated enthusiasm, those were the days. Incidentally, I think you’re wrong, they are laughing now, you just can’t see them behind all the trophies.

Go on the Tappa!

I believe Levy personally loves to watch Spurs win because he is a fan and also enjoys the reflected glory.

However, he wears a business straight jacket – a lot of rules, and they come above the need to win on the field.

When we were broke at the little old lane, they (the worlds top ten money clubs) were all laughing at us. They ain’t laughing now. We’re coming for them all. TOTTENHAM LONDON. Jose on the cups. Levy on the money. Can’t go wrong

When we talk of ENIC, we mean Levy don’t we? He and Lewis are the shareholders of ENIC and Lewis seems happy enough for Levy to do his thing.

My belief is that Levy wants to build the clubs stature for 2 reasons:
1. His legacy
2. To profit when he cashes out

Levy’s strategy to build the clubs stature is the bone of contention between fans. Most of us would like to see decent players being bought and producing success on the pitch. What we see is money being ploughed into a building project.

I’m sure Levy’s own standpoint is that he’s building the revenue and income streams first in order for us to compete with other clubs, and keeping a healthy wages/turnover ratio. Ie. Once we are earning more, we can spend more.

It’s a longer term strategy that may well end up working. I hope it does, because they aren’t selling any time soon.

“Continue to proceed unhindered”, most unlikely. Enic are not interested in football success. It is my belief that their game plan is to simply grow their revenues from the new stadium whilst the football ticks along as a necessary evil. Once these revenues start throwing off prodigious cashflow, Enic will sell the business. They are not interested in spending these potential forthcoming revenues on anything as silly as football success.
