Ian Wright reveals what Levy must do to appease Ange after ‘the last couple of weeks’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on Champions League qualification after a disappointing end to the season.

They have dropped valuable points in the last few weeks of the season and some of their performances left manager Ange Postecoglou infuriated. The manager embarked on a post-match rant after the Manchester City defeat, criticising the mentality and the performance.

Former Arsenal striker and club legend Ian Wright has now revealed what Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy must do in order to appease the Australian manager after the last couple of weeks.

Wright believes that Postecoglou is an ambitious manager who will not rest until he has won trophies with the club. In order for that to happen, Tottenham will have to improve their squad during the summer transfer window.

Wright has claimed that Levy will have to back the manager in the transfer market this summer. It will be interesting to see if Levy is willing to spend substantial funds in the coming weeks.

“I think him saying he has got lofty ambitions for the club and until he reaches that point, he is not going to smile too much, they have got a manager who wants to win,” said Wright on BBC MOTD.

“You are hoping now that Daniel Levy will back him because the last couple of weeks probably has really opened his eyes. This manager needs backing now. He is a winner,” he added.

Tottenham need to bring in a quality central defender, a central midfielder who can control the tempo of the game, and a reliable centre forward who can lead the line and score goals consistently.

Tottenham must plug the gaps in their squad during the summer transfer window if they want to secure Champions League qualification next season and push for domestic trophies. They have qualified for the UEFA Europa league after finishing fifth in the league table, and they will need a deeper squad to deal with the fixture congestion.
