“I wish…” – James Maddison makes interesting transfer admission

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has admitted that he wished Spurs had kept Harry Kane.

Spurs are on to a flying start in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou.

They are unbeaten in the league, having won 6 and drawing 2 and currently sit on the top of the table.

For the first time since Mauricio Pochettino, they look like a team with an identity, playing a much more attractive brand of football and the mood around the club seems extremely positive.

Ange may not have been the most popular names in Spurs’ list of managers but he has come in and become a popular figure at the club instantly.

He brought in a number of players in the summer, all of whome have made instant impact. James Maddison is one of them. Others include Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Manor Solomon, and Brennan Johnson.

Ange did receive an early blow when the club ended up selling their star striker Harry Kane right before the start of the new season.

And while the duo of Maddison and Kane would have been a scary one, Spurs have not let it affect them, instead only seem to have become stronger.

Maddison, when asked if he teases Harry Kane about Spurs being top and Bayern struggling after the switch, he told talkSPORT:

“No! “Harry is the best number nine in the world I think to be honest, I’m not sure there is anyone better. So there’s been none of that.

“I wish we could have kept Harry, obviously, but he has gone on to his new journey and started brilliantly as I knew he would as he was a top player and a top professional so none of that. Just a new chapter for both of us.”
