‘I watched the training’: Journalist reveals reason behind ‘overweight’ Tottenham player’s struggles

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has joined Turkish club Galatasaray on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Turkish outfit have an option to sign him permanently for a fee of around €15 million next summer. However, the 26-year-old midfielder has not been able to establish himself as an important player for Galatasaray yet.

The French international is still struggling with his fitness problems and journalist Nevzat Dindar has revealed that the player is currently overweight and he will need to work on his fitness before he can play regularly for the Turkish club.

“Ndombélé is overweight. I watched the training. Kerem Demirbay and Sergio Oliveira play in Galatasaray’s midfield. Expectations are high. I don’t think Galatasaray are taking a risk for Ndombélé. I say there is one month for Ndombélé,” he said to Milliyet.

His career has gone downhill ever since his departure from Lyon. He failed to establish himself at Tottenham and his loan spell at Napoli last season was not as expected either. The midfielder was regarded as a world-class talent before he joined Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether he can recapture his form in the coming months.

If he manages to prove himself in Turkey, Galatasaray might be able to sign permanently at the end of the season. He does not have a future at the north London club and he needs to sort out his long-term future so that he can focus on his football once again.

The Frenchman is still only 26 and he will have plenty of time to get his career back on track. However, he needs to work on his fitness levels if he wants to play regularly at a high level. It will be interesting to see if he can gather the motivation and get back to his best soon.
