“I think this can be the shortest marriage ever” Sherwood says Conte and Spurs’ relationship will go one of two ways

By Bruce Grove -

Tim Sherwood has predicted that Antonio Conte will either be the Tottenham manager for the next few years if things go to plan or he would be gone from the club by the end of this season.

The Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the Spurs dugout just two matches ago and did not lose either of those games.

One was in the Premier League and ended in a draw against Everton. These are early days, but the signs are encouraging and the club will hope he gets some Premier League wins after this international break.

Conte left his job at Inter Milan in the summer despite winning the league title for them last season, because of a disagreement over player sales.

Former Spurs boss Sherwood believes his relationship with the Lilywhites could also go south just as quickly or blossom.

“Could he still go to Man United next season?” asked Sherwood on Premier League Daily.

“I think he didn’t join (Man United) in the summer because he was emotionally attached to Inter, it was because he was flushing out Man United and they never come.

“I think this can be the shortest marriage ever. I think it can go either way. I don’t think it’s 18 months or over.

“I think he stays for the three years or he leaves at the end of the season.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

Managers rarely last long at clubs nowadays and Spurs has had its own share of short managerial stints.

Daniel Levy will no doubt be praying that this appointment works out, his credibility is very much on the line.

Conte has a big job on his hands, especially considering how Spurs have done overall this season.

Tottenham have some good players and with the right recruitment there is every reason to feel optimistic, however, nothing is certain at Spurs.

The club’s performance after this international break might serve as an early indicator of what is coming.

There are 3 guys who know everything and how to fix Spurs. Harry Redknapp, Jamie Redknapp and Tim Sherwood. Why is Levy not hitting #3

Conte is lucky.
We have a squad who just weren’t performing for the Statue (this is shown in all the stats) so all he has to do is get them performing and we are right up there – I will say with W Ham who I dont think are all that anyway.
Jeez I have missed the Champions League.

I’d put money on Conte lasting longer at Spurs than pea-brain mouth-almighty Sherwood did.

Hopefully Conte will be more successful in jettisoning the abundance of deadwood in the squad. Many are unfit for purpose no matter the system.
