“I think it will be a four-year deal” pundit speculates how long Spurs will keep star man

By Bruce Grove -

Kevin Phillips thinks that Tottenham will be wary of handing Harry Kane another six-year contract as they consider handing him a new deal.

The Englishman has been one of the best strikers in the world for a while now, with this season being one of his best so far.

He has weaponised himself with assists, in addition to also scoring goals for the Lilywhites regularly, and he is now even more appealing to other teams.

Tottenham reportedly wants to keep him happy, and they are considering signing him on to a new contract.

The new deal would improve his salary and keep him with them for his peak years at the club, and there have been suggestions that they would hand him a new long-term deal.

Phillips thinks that they will not want to hand him more than a four-year extension.

He also said that the striker will consider leaving if they don’t win a trophy this season, and tips him to join Manchester City.

“I would be very surprised if Spurs offer Kane another six-year deal,” Phillips told Football Insider. “I think it will be a four-year deal.

“Why would you not want to tie him down? He is their talisman. There is no one better in the Premier League at what he does.

“They will want to give him a big bumper pay day to try and fend off interest in him from the big sides in the summer

“If Tottenham do not win a trophy this season, if I am Kane, I would be looking to move on. New contract or no new contract I think he would look at leaving if they do not add silverware this year.

“When you look at a Man City, who will be in the market for a new striker, Kane would be the perfect fit.

“If they were to win a trophy, it would be a coup and I think Kane may stay at Tottenham for the rest of his career.”
