‘I expect this…’: Insider feels 25-year-old’s Tottenham exit could drag on

By Saikat -

Tottenham insider John Wenham believes Japhet Tanganga will hold off on a permanent move to Millwall.

The North London club sent him out on loan at the start of the 2023/24 season. He spent the first half of the season at German club FC Augsburg.

The 25-year-old struggled with injuries and returned to the club at the halfway mark without even making his debut for them. He then ended up joining Millwall and played a big part in their survival in the English second tier.

With his loan spell expiring, the Championship club have agreed terms with Tottenham regarding a permanent transfer. However, the final decision is in the hands of Tanganga and the Lilywhite Rose podcast owner John Wenham feels the 25-year-old will be in no rush to make a permanent switch to the Lions.

Wenham while speaking to Tottenham News said: “I think Tanganga will hold out on the move.

“His agent will be making other clubs aware of the fee which has been agreed with Millwall to see if anyone else wants to match it.

“I expect this to run for a little while, but Tanganga will be pleased to know that he’s got that option there.

“I think Millwall will be relaxed too. He was outstanding for them, and I am sure they’ll give him some time to think about it.

“For Tottenham, they know he will go on a permanent this summer, which is good news.”

The English centre-back featured in 18 matches for Millwall and his performances during that short stint was enough to convince the club that he could be a key player for them in the long run. As a result, they ended up striking a deal for his services.

While the Lions have an agreement with Tottenham, the player is yet to decide on his future and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. It will be interesting to see if any other club is willing to make a move for him.

The transfer could drag on this summer but Tanganga will be pleased that he has options to choose from. Meanwhile, Spurs will look to get it over the line as soon as possible as they plan for a busy summer.
