“I don’t know what will happen” – Tottenham ace hints at a possible move away in the summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Spurs signed young forward Alejo Veliz in the summer on a six-year deal from Rosario Central for a transfer fee believed to be around €15 million.

The Argentine striker made eight appearances in the English top flight this campaign but saw only 42 minutes of action on the pitch.

Despite the first-team appearances, the club decided to loan Veliz to Sevilla in the January window for the rest of the season, a move aimed to help him develop.

On Sunday, the Spanish club will face Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu, and the youngster is eager to make his mark in the fixture.

Ahead of the clash, news outlet AS (via Sport Witness) interviewed the player. The Argentina U20 international, however, made ambiguous comments regarding his future.

Veliz was unclear when asked whether he would stay at Sevilla beyond this season, stating:

“I don’t know what will happen. If I stay, time will tell. To start with, Sevilla and their fans must be happy with me because I’m delighted to have come here and I hope that many good things will happen.”

This isn’t the first time a Tottenham player has gone on loan to Sevilla. Just last winter, right-winger Bryan Gil, also a former club of his, joined the side on loan until the end of the season.

Veliz was also asked whether Gil convinced him to go to Sevilla, to which he replied:

“We came during a break. Tottenham gave us a weekend off, I was alone there and Bryan invited me to come. When the possibility came up, I didn’t even hesitate.”

Veliz undoubtedly possesses talent, and if he continues to fulfil that potential on his current trajectory, he could prove to become a great signing for Spurs.
