Huge boost for Tottenham: Key first-team starter commits his long-term future to the club

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has expressed his desire to remain at the club for as long as possible.

The Senegalese international made his dedication official last month by signing a new contract with the club, extending his commitment until June 2030.

Sarr joined Spurs from the French club FC Metz in the summer of 2021 for a transfer fee of €16.9 million. He was loaned back to the Ligue 1 side until the end of that season before finally making his long-awaited debut in North London in January last year.

Under Ange, the 21-year-old is enjoying his breakthrough season, establishing himself as a regular started alongside Yves Bissouma in the midfield. He has made 20 appearances in the league so far, scoring three goals and assisting another two.

Tottenham correspondent for the website Football London, Alasdair Gold shares details from the star boy’s interview where he expressed his desire to play for Spurs for ‘as long as possible’.

Sarr said:

“It’s a great feeling, being part of things here at Tottenham. It has become like a family to me now, so it makes me happy to have renewed my contract with the club.”

“The view is to stay here for as long as possible so I can really express myself on the pitch, enjoy the experience to the full with the fans and push on to win trophies.”

“I try to enjoy each match as it comes. I wanted to make this a great season for us all, and a good one for me.”

TBH Says:

Sarr’s suitability for Ange’s style makes him an invaluable asset for Tottenham which is why his desire to stay with the club for a long time will come as a big boost for the club, especially amidst reports of Barcelona’s interest in him.
