Tottenham handed huge boost ahead of the Liverpool clash

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur have received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool as James Maddison is expected to be fit for the game.

Both teams are in excellent form, with both still undefeated in the league this season.

Liverpool drew their season opener against Chelsea but have since won five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Tottenham also drew their season opener against Brentford before winning four in a row and then drawing 2-2 against Arsenal in a thrilling North London derby.

The derby clash saw Spurs come back from behind twice to with skipper Heung-min Son  scoring both the goals.

James Maddison who had a great North London derby debut assisted both the Tottenham goals but suffered a knock to his knee.

He was back to his feet and continued to play at that time but according to Football London, Spurs ‘monitored his physical condition after the knock and had a scan but much of the feedback has been positive’.

The report adds that Maddison is expected to be ‘fit to play’ against Liverpool this weekend.

Maddison has been a key player for Ange, contributing 6 goals in 6 games in the Premier League. His availability will come as a huge boost for Tottenham.

Tottenham will go into the game with an advantage of a week long rest, as they were not involved in the midweek League Cup fixtures after being eliminated from the competition early by Fulham.

Meanwhile, Liverpool did play Leicester yesterday but had rested several first team players as they beat them 3-1 to qualify for the next round.

Matches between Tottenham and Liverpool have been highly entertaining in recent years, and the upcoming clash promises to be another thriller.

Jurgen Klopp is going to be facing a new attack minded Tottenham. Whether Ange gets the better of Klopp remains to be seen.
