Some of you may have been wondering what the truth was with the whole Gareth Bale business.
Well there was a suggestion of a loan deal. Of 2 or 3 years.
However, a source close to the club tells the Harry Hotspur blog that this loan idea was one planted by Bale’s agents.
Given the deterioration of relations in Madrid, the idea was jolly proceedings along, rustle up some viable interest in the Welshman.
The same agents had managed to get James Rodriguez a loan out to Bayern which suited all parties well.
Alas, not only is €680,000 a week a tough number to even attempt to begin to work around, it was also more of a case that nobody at Tottenham thought that bringing Bale back was even vaguely a good idea.
Also, whilst Mr Levy is can happy to forgive, I am told forgetting is a somewhat different matter.
Mauricio Pochettino is busy engineering his MK3 squad. This is no longer a player that remotely fits the Tottenham set up.
It does make one question the mentality of fans who in one breath champion the dreaded ‘building‘, and in the next invent a 70% wage cut for a player that would effectively undermine what Poch is trying to do.
