High times at the King Power, but now ENIC need to show Conte some genuine intent – opinion

By The Boy -

§I couldn’t help but feel that the euphoria of Wednesday night, and beating Leicester City, reminded me of the equally surreal comeback and victory against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final, in May 2019.

Witnessing that level of passion and determination was breathtaking. That said, those are two frankly isolated occasions in a period spanning several seasons and four managers.

It’s frankly miraculous that after Levy’s most recent managerial party games, when the music eventually stopped, we ended up with Antonio Conte sitting on a Tottenham chair. Spurs fans are paying for lavish banquets, so the sausage rolls need to stop.

Here’s my daily briefing, and you’re welcome to it.

He’s rated on transfermarkt at 25 million.. We opened bidding at 15million. So 22.5 million is about right really.. Wolves get some money for him, rather than him leaving on a free in the summer… When he signs for us on a 4 or 5 year contract then his value will rocket back up to 40 million odd.

Late to the party here but I’m still buzzing after Leicester. My heart sank in the 94th minute after Bergwjn had half a chance in the area, the foxes defender had Stevies arm locked under his armpit for 2 seconds impeding him, it was enough for a penalty in my eyes. It is stopping a goal scoring opportunity. Defenders have done this to me and it’s infuriating, he might as well have hold of his shirt or neck.. Stevie hits the deck and looks to the ref. Then gets a yellow for pushing ponytail in the chest. Ponytail hits the deck clutching his face… After the Foxes time wasting and defenders dirty tactics, cheating, they really deserved what they got… Brilliant to see Docherty come on and finally shake off his long covid, he really made the difference.. Sublime vision and assists from both Hojberg and Kane to create Stevies goals… And Stevie B take a bow. Justice was served. You almost had me in tears kid… Just when I thought the Contedust had run out for a game, there was still a sprinkle in the back pocket… Up the Yids 🐓

It’s because Traores contract runs out soon. Similar to Tintin their price rapidly drops as they approach the last one or two windows before they are on a Bosman free.

Diego Carlos seems to a name popping up at the moment. Half decent profile but not a top level central defender from what I can tell. A few caps for Brasil, but what does that say these days?

What about Digne to villa? 25 million French international who can tackle, has pace & can cross a ball yet we were no where to be seen…

Failing to back this guy would be the ultimate lack of respect; and would prove, once and for all, what the real ENIC agenda is with our club.
I predict a riot!

I think a few clubs would take either Rodon or Tanganga on loan but it’s reasonable to assume that we’ll need an experienced defender to come in first. We need numbers too, we can’t afford any more central defenders off our books unless one comes in.

Daniel should stick to dominoes, and leave running a top flight football club to someone who actually has the stomach for it…

Concern for who…who in their right mind would take Stroppy Bollix, Jah Dele, thought someone might come into loan Rodon though he is the best on the list…

Liverpool in now for Traore apparently after Poundland Levys latest low ball offer attempt to pretend he is backing Conte. As the tick-tock of yet another barren transfer window mercilessly marches on the reality that nothing has changed behind the scenes with ENIC and Levy becomes ever more apparent. The same old PR spin of signing a new contract extension with an existing player is heralded as a sign of intent to back the manager. Once again Levy appears to be pulling the strings and Paratici’s in particular as all energies seem to be on offloading players first to release funds to then spend on making offers for new players which as always means we will run out of time and miss out on signing anyone probably. The missing word in all of this is “investment”. Investment is new money put into the “football team” as an indication of ambition for success on the football pitch. Selling players to buy players is not investment and is not ambition.

Levy on his usual transfer nonsense.
Good news on Hugo though signing for another year ,he has been in great form lately.

I’ve not got over Coutinho heading to Villa. He would have been a great addition to the squad. How or why we weren’t involved in that transfer is baffling

We read so much baloney about transfers it’s hard to sort the wheat from the chaff. If true, the fact that Wolves are willing to sell a player valued at £40m in the summer for £20-25m (depends on source), and we are stalling trying to penny pinch is a grim comment on our support for Conte. It seems we are willing to let a player that Conte wants slip for the sake of a few million tells me that once again the odorous Levy is at the controls, it has his skinflint stink all over it. I don’t see Paratici risking the wrath of the best manager we are ever likely to have over such small sums (in footballing terms).
The fact that this fool is trying to do this after his calamitous mismanagement of a bargain deal for Grealish really concerns me – it shows the man has very little business acumen when it comes to football matters and unlike a chimpanzee that shares most of his DNA, is incapable of learning. It never seems to occur to him that the chances of him and enic getting a big CL payday are maximised by the addition of worthy players (not his bargain basement flops by the way).
For goodness sake Daniel just for once in your life support a manager and director of football. If you don’t trust them why employ them? If you know it all as you seem to think you do, then why don’t you take over their roles? But remember if you were to fail you would have to suffer the same fate that you are so keen on dishing out.
I find his perennial incompetence staggering.

Don’t hold your breath. Levy supposedly put in a £60m offer in the summer for Martinez, so where has that money gone all of a sudden.
I do hope for Levy, Lewis and ENIC’s sake that they do back Conte as they will have murders to pay if we miss out on top four due to lack of investment again.

Clubs usually say it takes the first transfer in the window to set off the domino effect of players moving in and out, there are undoubtedly clubs who need to improve squads yet nobody is sniffing our wantaways which is a concern.

21st Jan and still no sign of any ins or outs … I think we know where this is headed.

It’s clear we have players we can’t give away and then we have players who’s worth has plummeted. In an environment of sell to buy we’re well and truly fu*ked !

Side note…. There are some rumours that Eriksen might return. I’d suggest we look to see if he can deliver any crosses passed the first defender before signing him.
