Tottenham’s Richarlison has been a standout performer lately, showcasing a remarkable improvement in his form since recovering from groin surgery last December.
The Brazilian striker has been on fire, netting an impressive 9 goals in his last 10 appearances in the ongoing Premier League season.
This surge in performance marks a stark contrast from his slow start to the campaign, where he struggled to find the back of the net, managing just one goal in the first ten league games.
Richarlison’s resurgence has silenced critics who had previously questioned his ability to justify his £60 million price tag.
Former Spurs winger Peter Taylor, speaking on The Spurs Show, admitted that he had underestimated Richarlison’s attitude, initially perceiving him as moody.
However, Taylor acknowledged Richarlison’s recent change in attitude, leading to an overall improvement in his game.
He said:
“I think Richarlison has done well, but I’m a little bit surprised he’s done that well do you know what I mean. He’s definitely not a number nine. Harry was the real deal in that respect. You can’t get better than that.
“All I would say is that the focus for Spurs now should be to get as close as you can to that. You need a good number nine and Richarlison can play in other bits.
“I’ve been pleased with him attitude wise. From the outside I thought he was too moody, I’m not sure I’d have you, but he’s won me over, he’s done well.”
Richarlison himself has credited his improved form to therapy sessions, revealing that he is beginning to feel more like himself.
The 26-year-old’s turnaround is commendable, especially considering his struggles during his debut season at Tottenham, where he managed just one league goal in 27 appearances.
As Richarlison continues to recover from a knee injury, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to see him maintain this high level of performance, as he plays a crucial role in Spurs’ push for success in the Premier League.
