Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Argentina striker Alejo Veliz in recent weeks.
A report from Evening Standard claims that the striker is now closing in on a move to the Premier League club.
Tottenham have agreed on a deal worth around £12 million with Rosario Central for the 19-year-old striker.
The player has now been spotted flying into London where he will undergo a medical with the Premier League club and sign a five-year contract.
“I just wait to sign my contract with Spurs, it’s imminent,” he told ESPN (h/t Evening Standard).
“I will say goodbye to the [Rosario] fans with a formal message.
“I spoke with Gio Lo Celso and he told me that I will have his support”.

The 19-year-old scored 11 goals in 23 league matches for Rosario Central this season and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Tottenham. The player has now revealed that he has already spoken to his compatriot Giovani Lo Celso regarding a potential move to Tottenham and the Spurs playmaker has assured him that he will have the youngster’s back when he arrives in England.
The striker’s comments could also suggest that Lo Celso might be open to staying at Tottenham beyond this summer. Initially, he was expected to leave the club permanently amid links with Real Betis and Napoli.
The player has also confirmed that the transfer is imminent and he is waiting to sign his contract with the London club.
Tottenham need to add more quality and depth to their attack and the 19-year-old would be a quality long-term investment. While he might not be ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League, he has the potential to develop into a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
If he manages to fulfil his potential with the London club, the £12 million transfer could look like a bargain in the coming seasons.
Spurs were overly dependent on Harry Kane last season and the England international needs more support in the attack if he ends up staying at the club. Veliz could prove to be a quality understudy to the England international next season.
