Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has been criticised for his underwhelming performances since joining the club last summer.
Sky Sports pundit Jay Bothroyd has now named the 26-year-old striker as one of the worst in the league.
Richarlison has scored just four goals for Tottenham across all competitions since completing a £60 million move from Everton last summer. It goes without saying that the Brazilian international has failed to live up to the expectations.
Bothroyd believes that the Brazilian has a shocking record and his finishing leaves a lot to be desired.
However, the Sky Sports pundit added that Richarlison is a hardworking player but he needs to work on his overall play and intelligence on the pitch.
“I think he’s an E. I think he has a shocking record, he misses a lot of chances. He works hard, but his overall play and his intelligence on the pitch, I can only put him in E,” Bothroyd said (h/t TBR Football).
“27 appearances, one goal for Tottenham, it’s an E. In terms of his pricetag and what he’s done at Tottenham, as a number nine you have to score goals, he’s underperformed.”
There is no doubt that the Brazilian has underperformed since his move to Tottenham. He was expected to replace Harry Kane eventually and it remains to be seen how the Brazilian fills the void left by the 30-year-old England international who joined by Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
Spurs will need him to score goals consistently and Richarlison will have to be more prolific in front of the goal.
The Brazilian looks devoid of confidence and sharpness right now and it remains to be seen whether Ange Postecoglou can help him bounce back strongly.
