Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise at Spurs centre-back Micky van de Ven.
Micky van de Ven joined Spurs from Wolfsburg for £43m in the summer and has settled in immediately becoming one of the best signings for Spurs.
Him along with Cristian Romero have formed one of the best centre-back partnerships in the league.
He has barely put a foot wrong with many comparing him and his impact with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
And Ferdinand who is regarded as one of the finest centre-backs to play in the Premier League has been ‘blown away’ by the Dutchman.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he praise the 22-year-old, admitting his surprise at how quickly he has adapted to the physical nature of the Premier League.
The Premier League Hall of Famer said:
“Romero and Micky van de Ven are arguably the best pairing at the moment in central defence in the Premier League on form. They’ve been immense.”
“This Micky van de Ven, bro, he is the real deal. He’s the real deal. I saw his debut the other day for Holland. I’ve seen him right up close twice this season.”
And he looks supremely comfortable for a young centre-back that’s come into a new league. So watch this space for this kid.”
Micky van de Ven and James Maddison deserve a huge credit for how quickly they have made an impact to the Tottenham team and both of them have been key to their terrific start to the season.
They are currently top of the league table, two points ahead of their arch rivals Arsenal and 5 points ahead of Manchester City.
