‘He’s the perfect player’ – Pundit claims Harry Kane will stay if Spurs sign 28-yr-old

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to sign the Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from Southampton at the end of the season especially if they go down to the Championship. Southampton are involved in a relegation battle and it is highly unlikely that Ward-Prowse will play in the Championship with them if they go down this season.

Ward-Prowse has established himself as one of the most consistent midfielders in the league and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham.

Talksport pundit Darren Ambrose believes that the signing of the Southampton midfielder could help Tottenham convince Harry Kane to stay at the club.

The Tottenham striker has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season with this contract expiring in the summer of 2024. The two parties have not been able to agree on an extension yet and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Ambrose believes that a signing like Ward-Prowse would help create more opportunities for Tottenham strikers and Kane is likely to stay at the club if the Londoners can sign the Southampton captain.

He stated: “I’d take him at Spurs for £50m. I think he’s the perfect player that Spurs need that goes from defence to attack.

“And he can be that link to the play and I think you’ve got the players that will do the dirty work – the dog work – in terms of [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Oliver] Skipp and players like that.

“I think he’s fantastic. Listen, you sign James Ward-Prowse, Harry Kane stays.

“That’s an extra ten goals a season for him with his deliveries.”

Apart from being an excellent passer, the 28-year-old is one of the best free-kick takers in Premier League history and he would add a new dimension to Antonio Conte’s side.
