‘He’s still recovering’: Tottenham fan-favourite has undergone surgery following injury

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min has reportedly undergone surgery for a sports hernia.

According to a statement from the KFA, the 30-year-old had his surgery after Tottenham’s final game of the season. The player has already had two weeks of recovery but is still not ready to play.

South Korea will take on Peru in a friendly on the 16th of June and manager Jurgen Klinsmann will decide whether the Tottenham player is fit enough to participate in the fixture.

The statement from KFA said (h/t Sungmo Lee): “Two weeks of recovery period has passed, but as he’s still recovering Klinsmann will decide whether he will play (VS Peru in 16th June). It’s not a serious injury and the recovery period is different to person. However, Son is very eager to play against Peru”.

Ideally, South Korea should look to rest him for the upcoming game and let him recover fully. It has been a disappointing season for Son Heung-min with Tottenham and he has not been able to hit top form.

It remains to be seen whether the newly appointed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou can get the best out of the 30-year-old attacker next year. There is no doubt that Son is one of the best players in the Premier League and his return to form would be a major boost for Tottenham.

Postecoglou has a proven track record of improving players and the fans will be hoping that he can get the best out of the current Tottenham squad.

Meanwhile, the sports hernia injury is not considered serious, and the Son is expected to be back in action soon.

Tottenham will be hoping to get back into the top for next year and they need their key players firing on all cylinders in order to do well. Son’s recovery will be crucial to their ambitions.
