Tottenham’s new boy Pedro Porro is a fascinating signing, having been originally brought in on Antonio Conte’s watch, who as we know favoured the use of wing-backs.
Under Ange Postecoglou, the suggestion so far, appears to be that the Aussie perhaps prefers a flatter backline.
For some fans, it has been noted that Porro looks to be more in his element in attacking positions, so it could be the case that Spurs’ new coach might be inclined to let the Portuguese play in front of Emerson Royal, operating in more as a right winger.
This would certainly appeal to a coach said to favour attack-minded strategies. Either way, it’s a nice problem to have.
Harry Kane’s future appears to have become a traditional feature of transfer windows these days, and this summer is no exception.
Noted journalists across Europe strongly believe that the England captain’s camp is, at least in concerted discussions at least with Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich. Speaking to AS in a lengthy interview, Porro was asked for his take on the situation.
Answering, Pedro may well have been respectful to his teammate, but it certainly wasn’t the ‘he’s just focused on Spurs’ type of line many of us might have hoped for. Equally, it’s not Porro’s business to get bogged down in the probable mechanics of his captain’s exit strategy from the club!
Harry Kane is undoubtedly a great player, and what would be pleasing, is to see Daniel Levy hammer out a deal so sweet, that Kane would be nuts to even consider offers, however flattering, from anyone.
