“He suffers from Solskjær-syndrome” Nuno fast losing credibility with his latest comments

By Bruce Grove -

It is common knowledge that Nuno Espirito Santo was not the first choice to be the Tottenham manager when he was hired in the summer, in fact, he probably was not in the top five and that meant that his position was undermined from the get-go.

Throw in the perception that he was Jose Mourinho 2.0 and that his football style is best described as pragmatic and then you get a situation where he was always going to struggle to win over the Spurs faithful.

There are a whole bunch of mitigating circumstances that Nuno can point to and he has hardly been in the job for an extended period of time but it is becoming a struggle to make a case for him and judging by comments on social media, it does not seem that he has many backers among the fan base.

PA Sport journalist and Tottenham fan Jonathan Veal stuck up a Tweet asking for thoughts on Nuno rejecting the claim that Spurs have a creativity problem and the responses were rather damning.

Who brought in Nuno? ‘Don’ Paratici, so both of them need to go.

Patatici reminds me of Damien Comoll, tows the company line and content to temper the fan’s expectations with the continued mediocrity.

Baldini at least keep his mouth shut, nothing worse than saying lots of meaningless drivel about the club’s identity and then bring in a coach like Nuno. DOFs are just a massive con, loads of clubs have them and loads of those clubs have shown zero improvement as a result…

I think had Mourinho still been in the job the likes of Dele, Winks and others would be at pastures new. He would’ve insisted Kane was let go. And genuinely believe he’d of got better players in and importantly more than one centre forward over what we have now.

I’m beginning to think Nuno has to pay to leave Spurs.

Nuno is quite uninspiring but do you seriously believe any manager could get much more out what he has got? The first Xi picks itself which is itself is mid table and there is no squad depth to challenge them. I wish there were academy players who although raw he could throw in but the quality of the academy products we have is abysmal.
Clubs that we looked upon with disdain like West Ham and Brighton will all finish above us this year, and all the while the chairman talks about the club being on a sound financial footing.
In some ways it would be good for us to get the same shooing United got yesterday this Saturday. It might bring some sense to the Levy spreadsheet apologists.

True, he does have access to one of the best football academies in the world, but Ajax doesn’t rely solely on that. They’ve made many astute signings throughout the years, like, more recently, Antony, who they signed from São Paulo for a mere 15 million euros. That’s less than half what we paid for Bergwjn and, even though they play in roughly the same position, I’m not seeing Stevie making mince of Dortmund’s defence, the way Antony did a few weeks ago, anytime soon. So, I don’t know if ten Hag would be able to reproduce in London what he did in Amsterdam, but I believe he has proven to be a much more capable manager than Nuno. Nevertheless, and much as we need someone new at the helm of the team, the manager’s skill won’t matter that much if our scouting department keep missing a whole lot more than they hit. Something needs to change, and to change drastically, at Tottenham, or we risk going the way of Nottingham Forest (and they at least got to enjoy 2 Euro Cup wins).

Romero was poor yesterday. He got bullied by Antonio and his passing was woeful…..again.

If this press conference was instead a presentation to your manager or board of directors justifying your last week’s work, your desk would have been cleared and your keycard blocked before you left the room.

The best this crop of players could hope for under NES is 5th, and that is if all our players come together and perform to their best. Sadly, they are not. On current form we will finish about 8th.

I would like to know what was NES’ brief? If we knew that we might understand the situation more, even if we don’t like the performances. No Spurs fan would think 4th was possible, but would Levy? He’s not that much of an imbecile is he?

I like the idea of Ten Hag, but could he realistically turn our squad in to a free flowing entity like Ajax? He is lucky by having the best Dutch players coming out of the academy and an easier league to compete in, but irrespective of that I wholeheartedly agree with TKN, Nuno is definitely not part of the solution, especially with this squad.

I don’t know. Money has a way of changing people’s minds. Did the report you read mention how much our bald devil offered for the Dutchman’s soul?

Read at the weekend that he turned us down so never happening.
One of many.
How Paratici persuaded Romero to join us beats me but as for the rest………meh

As I mentioned elsewhere, I’m with many of you in thinking Nuno is not our biggest problem, but it’s becoming abundantly clear he isn’t part of the solution either.

Now, I’ve been watching quite a few of Ajax’s matches, as they landed in a CL group with the other team I support (Sporting), and, boy, colour me impressed! Not only was ten Hag able to carry out the rebuild that squad needed after their previous success led to an exodus of their best players, but, quite frankly, apart from the usual suspects (City, Pool, Bayern…) I don’t see any other team in Europe playing a better brand of attacking football than Ajax’s. They’ve been cruising through their CL group (5-1 away vs Sporting, 4-0 away vs Dortmund, 2-0 home vs Besiktas) and just yesterday I watched them wipe the floor (5-0) with PSV in their local league.

So, baldy, stop dithering, bend them knees and give the man the bj of a lifetime. Or, better yet, offer him the same wages you squandered with Mourinho. I bet 16 mil per year would go a long way in attenuating any misgivings the man might have in signing for a team run by a money-grubbing fraud like yourself.

Is there a Spurs fan anywhere that truly thought NES would be and bring success to Spurs ? If there is, I have some magic beans for sale.

Maybe if he shaved off his beard and glued it to his head he’d be able to think clearer, he’d feel warmer too.

of course it’s easy to criticize the manager from the outside. however where THFC are now is absolutely “criticizable”. Jonathan Liew in the Guardian today says it’s a team/club in decline needing major maintenance/ overhaul. So what it’s had recently is some minor maintenance (a few ins and a few outs) and the appointment of a coach who is patient and experienced, but seems to be fearful of the opposition rather than going for attack as a starting position. against Vitesse and W Ham the team tried to pile on the pressure too late. this team is sort of upper mid table- will prob.beat Norwich &c. but against good teams…oops. reminds me of part of the 90s whch is depressing

It’s obvious he dislikes press conferences but he needs to realise he’s doing himself no good with his defensive attitude.

Not one shot on goal in the second half for the third time this season but Nuno sees no creativity problem.

A little bit of honesty would go a long way with the fans and the players.

The harsh reality is that THFC are no longer a top draw opportunity for any top notch coach under our current ownership.

Hence why we have the coach that we have.

Fancy stadium and training ground is pointless if no investment is forth coming on the pitch.

No wonder HK wants out, Levy has shafted himself for being so pig headed.

Until fans boycott the games, nothing will change, I get this will never happen as the heart rules the head from these diehard fans.

At best we are a top 7 side unless other teams under perform like us.
