“He sounded quite down” Gold reckons Conte reaction does not look good for Spurs

By Bruce Grove -

Alasdair Gold speculates that Cristian Romero may have suffered a serious injury judging by Antonio Conte’s reaction, as the Argentinian gets set for a spell out of action.

Romero has arguably been Tottenham’s best signing of the season and he is also an important player for the Argentina national team.

He suffered an injury on his last international outing with Argentina and Spurs will be without him for their match against Leeds United.

The amount of time he will spend on the sidelines remains unclear, but Tottenham correspondent Gold reckons it could be for long.

He said on Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast

“Romero, he [Conte] sounded quite down about. You know, some of the info kind of going around, mainly from Argentina [suggested] maybe it was a lesser hamstring injury – maybe a grade one type.

“I just don’t know. The way he was speaking, it’s almost like we won’t really know for another week exactly how bad it is. I think you’d normally know if it was an alright one.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

Romero has been one of the most important players at Tottenham this season and Antonio Conte is banking on the defender to build a strong starting XI.

This injury will be a setback, but it offers other centre backs at the club a chance to get back in the team.

Joe Rodon has been far from a first-team starter at Spurs, but this development could be helpful to him as he now stands a chance of getting a few minutes before Romero returns.

My unsolicited advice- let’s skip the first bit where you re-report a report about another reporter’s observation and cut to the chase. I’m here because I’m interested in The Boy Hotspur Says, otherwise I’d read the other stuff directly.

Getting fed up with all this Argentine nonsense.
Lo Celso playing better for them and that business with the match in Brazil getting stopped due to them lying.
Now a bad injury to our best defender.
