‘he looks like a bargain now’ – Former Premier League manager hails Spurs ace signed by Conte

By Saikat -

Former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce has now heaped praise on the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The 27-year-old had a difficult campaign with the north London club last year but he has managed to get back to his best and the defensive midfielder is now a key player for Ange Postecoglou.

Allardyce revealed on the Tippy Tappy Podcast that the 27-year-old is now looking like a bargain for Tottenham. Spurs paid £25 million to sign the player and Bissouma will certainly justify the investment if he continues to perform like this.

Allardyce said: “I think I said before and I watched him in his last game against Leeds when I was there last season.

“They thrashed us on the day and he was part of that ability that you saw and thought, well one season in, new manager brings the best out of him, knows what Tottenham is about now.

“Sometimes to ask a player to move and everybody expects that they’re going to move into a new football club and expect them to be what they were at the previous football club and often it can take a good year or two years before you see their very, very best.

“Obviously, nobody’s patient enough to do that these days. He’s come to terms with Tottenham and what’s expected and the manager’s brought the best out of him so he looks like a bargain now.”

The former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder was signed for Tottenham by Antonio Conte and he struggled for regular game time under the Italian last season. The arrival of Postecoglou has handed him a lifeline at Tottenham and the player has established himself as an indispensable asset for the north London club so far.

His performances have been outstanding and he has been crucial to Tottenham’s flying start to the season. Spurs are currently second in the league table and they will be hoping to push for Champions League qualification.

Postecoglou has impressed with his free-flowing attacking approach and Bissouma’s defensive pedigree has allowed Tottenham to operate with more freedom in the attack. The 27-year-old will look to build on his impressive start to the season and help his side compete for trophies in the coming months.

He was regarded as one of the finest defensive midfielders in the league during his time at Brighton and fans will be delighted to see him return to his peak form.
