Tottenham Hotspur completed a deal to sign James Maddison from Leicester City earlier this summer.
Reacting to his addition former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has now labelled it as an exceptional signing for the North London club.
Maddison has been a proven performer in the Premier League over the years and he has decided to leave Leicester City following their relegation.
The 26-year-old is expected to hit the ground running at Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether he can make an immediate impact.
The attacking midfielder will help create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates and he will chip in with goals as well.
Maddison is exceptional from direct free kicks as well and he will add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. Lineker believes that Maddison is top-class and he could prove to be a good addition to the North London club.
However, the former Tottenham striker believes that Spurs need to bring in better players in order to do well next season.
He told PA, via BBC: “They have made an exceptional signing in James Maddison.
“He is a better player than a lot of people think, I think he is absolutely top class. That is a good addition but they are a long, long way short.”
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club and the England international will have to be replaced adequately.
Tottenham will have to plug the gaps in their squad in order to get back into the Champions League and it remains to be seen whether they can sort out their weaknesses during the summer transfer window.
