Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has refused to rule out the possibility of hiring one of Italian football’s biggest stars in the last 20 years to his coaching staff.
Conte has had a significant impact at Tottenham Hotspur since joining the club last year. He led them back to the Champions League last season, and the club is now well-placed to qualify for the knockout stages of this season’s European campaign. They are also only four points off the top of the league table.
Sky Italia had invited Italian icon Giorgio Chiellini to the studio as a pundit for their Champions League coverage. After the game, Sky Italia asked Conte if the Italian would consider adding Chiellini to his coaching staff. And Conte’s response did not entirely dismiss the idea. He said (via Tuttomercatoweb):
“He can do everything, especially as a manager I see him doing very well.”
“He knows how to relate to his teammates, has the qualities of a leader.”
The ‘world-class defender‘ left Juventus at the end of last season, capping off a remarkable 17-year stay. He played 561 times for the club during that time, winning numerous trophies and being regarded as one of their greatest defenders.
Chiellini is set to retire after his contract with the LA Galaxy expires next season, and Conte has clearly given him his blessing to pursue a career in management once his playing days are over.

PLEASE can somebody ‘teach’ these buggers to defend corner kicks
I’m in agreement about Royal an ‘idiotic sleepwalker/somnabulist’ my missus would be a better defender, goals we conceded against Sporting & Frankfurt he was liable
True,Doherty was an improvement yesterday & Spence also will be ..(take note Antonio!!)
Conte just won’t give Spence a chance yet no matter how poorly Royal plays he’s almost guaranteed a place game after game. I don’t buy the reason that Spence is still adjusting to Conte’s ‘tactics’. It’s stubbornness pure and simple.
I’m in but some fans are telling us about Dier’s aeriel ability. I say to them “check out the photos of him wincing when he came up against a proper CF (C-L) a few seasons ago”. He is literally wincing and in my eyes hasnt improved since.
Dont forget in a 3 he has 2 (superior) CBs either side to protect him so can usually mop up easily.
This is a very good post!
I noticed that too.
It’s a symptom of players who can’t focus on their primary purpose, which for a defender is to anticipate and be aware of and alert to dangerous situations. Not something that can be coached out of him at his age I think.
Dier has the same problem, usually described as brainfarts
How thick is Royal and nobody seemed to pick up on this last night. When we went into Keystone cops mode in the last 10 minutes,Lloris made a good save to preserve the win,but the ball didn’t go out of play. What does Royal do?
Instead of clearing the danger,he decided to give Hugo a prolonged hug in gratitude, while Lloris desperately tries to get him to move out face up to the opposition.Fcuking clown proving yet again last night he is a liability.
Get him in and put Dier on the bench. What a pair of monsters,Romero and Chiellini.
