“Have opened talks with Tottenham” – Romano drops latest update on winger; confirms initial discussions have taken place

Bryan Gil’s time at Tottenham could be about to come to an end as Fabrizio Romano shares latest update on his future.

The Spaniard has been excluded from the squad announced for the pre-season tour with the club allowing him to stay behind and find a new club.

Bryan Gil has been looking for a move away from North London as well. The young winger made only 11 Premier League appearances last season, amassing just 201 minutes on the pitch. He has failed to make an impact at the club since joining from Sevilla.

And while he has two years remaining on his contract, Tottenham are also keen on selling him  as he is not a key part of manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans, who has several quality options to deploy on the wings.

He was receiving substantial interest from Spain in the last couple of transfer windows, with several clubs from La Liga, in particular, Real Betis showing a keen interest in him.

As per the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Spanish side Girona have opened talks with Tottenham. The Italian reiterated reports from club insider Paul O Keefe, confirming that initial discussions have already taken place.

Taking to X to share the update, Romano stated:

“Girona have opened talks with Tottenham for Bryan Gil, set to leave Spurs this summer. Initial discussions took place, as @pokeefe1 and @JaviHipo reported.”

“Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilón will both leave.”
