Harry Kane’s performance against Leeds United, truth be told, was another exercise where endeavour failed to overcome futility. Cynics will point out that this is the gulf between sides like San Marino and Albania…and top-flight teams in the Premier League. Except Leeds are, of course, ensconced in the lower echelons of the division. Yet still, Bielsa’s boys were able to extinguish the England captain’s best efforts.
If the first two shots were unfortunate, by the time the third came around, he really should have looked to pass.
Elsewhere, Harry managed just two successful dribbles.
Harry also appeared to have trouble holding onto the ball, and much was made by the Sky Sports commentators of Leeds implementing a man-to-man marking system. Kane lost possession almost as many times as Sergio Reguilon (21), giving up the ball 15 times. On 6 occasions, this was actually in his own half.
I hate to say it and maybe I’m way off the mark, but dragging shots wide delaying passes, passes going astray, lack of control, delaying shots, 🤔 hmmm . I’ll leave it there .
Kane was very active in the final third major difference from the past. He is going to go off in the next match look for a brace. You read it here first. The difference between the 2 pub teams he hammered, he actually had to lose Phillips who did a masterful job as a man marker, my kind of football, playing between the 2 central defenders meaning he has help on both sides, stepping up to cut the balls into Kane and was distributing the ball from very deep. Sometimes it is what the opposition is doing at height of the most competitive portion of the game. In the second half when Spurs turn it up, Phillips was the best player tactically on the pitch especially where the 2 defenders were Kane could not get into the creases. Some here do not want to here that, Kane was good without scoring. Phillips in my mind is the second best holding mid in England next to Declan Rice. Both strong and mobile, unfazed and can slot in as a defender or central in a back 3.
He doesn’t want to be here, and he should be sold in January along with the Finger Magician.
He should remember that he is first and foremost a striker and not keep coming deep. The reason he has to do that is largely because we haven’t replaced Eriksen. Guess who is to blame for that?
From what I saw, it seemed he was trying to do too much. Holding on to the ball too long, trying to play difficult passes (some of which came off), but it’s as if he’s lacking a bit of sharpness. It’s looking like his August performances of the past.
Also, Phillips marked him excellently and left him very little breathing space.
Looks like he has some sorting out to do in his head.
One phase yesterday his legs looked like they couldnt do what his brain was telling them to (looked like he was stuck in treacle).
I didnt see any England games but hear he scored goals so I wonder if he is still feeling angry with Levy he has def. lost something recently.
