The gaffer will have to seriously earn his corn this week.
Not for the first time, Maurico has reminded fans that Ajax come into Tuesday night’s tie with a couple of distinct advantages.
- They traded in their last two transfer windows
- They’ve not played since last week
Poch told PA Sport:
“I think we knew very well to compete in the top four and the Champions League is very tough.
“After Brighton it was fantastic and today it is the opposite. I still feel proud of them because it was a massive effort against a team that was preparing for the game with fresh legs – a very good team.
Poch accepted they struggled to cope with “stress and fatigue” in the second half when we went down to Michail Antonio’s 67th-minute goal.
Losing to West Ham was hardly the ideal build-up to what is the club’s biggest game in recent history not to mention it leaves the door open for their Premier League rivals in the race for the top four, which no one appears willing to win.
At time of blogging Arsenal are repeatedly hurling themselves under Leicester City’s wheels.
Poch simply doesn’t have the resources for Tuesday.
They shoulda backed the damn manager.

But you can’t be racist if your black.
That performance ahead of possibly our biggest game ever is very worrying. The players are running on fumes and if Poch can’t convince Levy to invest properly in the squad then he may as well walk because he will have achieved everything possible despite the owners. All the teams around us will bring in players this summer and the thought of us doing nothing yet again is very depressing indeed.
We have become Arse II.Levy get your damned wallet out.
And there it is in a nutshell.
I did not say he was but he sure is full of it in his after match comments when we lose
Might be a lot of things but a shit manager he ain’t.
Yet we are in our first Champions League semi final in our history. Just imagine what could be achieved if the manager was backed?
We could potentially have the worst 11 players to ever feature in a CL final.
I said this in January. Enic will see any success as validation and CL final they would count as success.
Spot on.
Just saw the highlights of yesterday’s debacle. What an absolute shocking situation to parade a broken squad in a billion dollar debt pit. To lose to West Ham in this manner at the new venue has taken away all this talk about a fortress. Only this club could allow itself to be taken down in this way. The shine has now faded already at the new stadium because the reality is that we have quality shopping malls and a sub quality football team. We are the most unauthentic football club in the EPL. We have owners who have no desire to be owners of a football club. We have players who know we have owners who have no interest in being owners of a football club. We have a patsy of a manager singing from ENICs balance sheet and coming out with increasingly incoherent mumblings about stress and fatigue to cover up the fact that he knows we have owners who do not wish to be owners of a football club. Yesterday we saw a team with players who were holding back for the CL match on Tuesday knowing that a CL place next season means nothing as they have no intention of being here namely Eriksen and Toby. We have no midfield to talk of. We have to resort to dragging Janssen into the fray because we have no other options. We have a cluster of players we need to offload. Davies, Dier, Llorente, Aurier, Lamela, Janssen, (Foyth on loan) Wanyama, Rose. Are we really facing the prospect of seeing Llorente and Janssen playing together at some time in a home tie in our vanity arena in a semi final of the CL. That in itself says everything about ENIC and their 18 year tenure as owners.
Hoping they were deliberately saving themselves in that 2nd half. They can out after HT with a much lower level of intensity. I’m sure Tuesday was on their mind.
I find myself hoping we don’t reach the CL final or finishing in the top 4. Never in my life did I ever think I’d feel this way.
I blame Levy of course. The continued failure to back manager (s) continually selling the family silver, key players reluctant to sign new deals has led me to where I am today.
Failure in the above gives me faint hope that it would be the wake up call to start backing our man Poch. Playing in the final and or finishing top 4 on zero spend tells me it’ll more of the same. Knackered and injured players empty trophy cabinet Thursday night football…… Oh how we laughed at Woolwich playing Thurs. nights ….. Oops….
Convenient for now. A champions league final up for grabs. ENIC FC might be found out.
It looks like it’s a draw. ENIC FC literally couldn’t have picked better results themselves for the last 3 weeks. How very convenient….
You really could not make it up, but, being Spurs we could still loose our last 2 games in the PL. We have the Biggest game in our recent History on Tuesday, yet the atmosphere revolving around that encounter feels muted. Its as if we are programmed for failure. I would take 1 nil, to Spurs, with all my heart to be honest, then again who would’nt.
All we need now is united to beat Chelsea and we are 1 out of 2 from 3rd. Enic may not have bought any players but they bought their share of luck!
Top 4 almost in the bag. Arsenal need to win 2 hard games and hope we don’t pick up anything from 2.
