Growing agreement ‘to reinforce both full-backs’ this summer will impact Tottenham’s summer trading

By The Boy -

There’s no doubt about it, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has a tonne of issues to address this summer. Beyond recruiting another new head coach, who, if he’s really lucky, would be the first to complete an entire season since Mauricio Pochettino, there’s the business of the first team squad, which is quite frankly more reminiscent of a crime scene than anything one might put much faith in. If you think that’s in any way negative, what’s the deal with a club the size of Spurs having so many senior players out on loan? While we’re at it, a small mention of arbitrarily terminating Matt Doherty’s contract is worthy of mention, in the helter-skelter of our transfer activity.

Spurs have in excess of €200million worth of players out on loan, and without exception, they are all decreasing in market worth. One of the surplus to requirement superstars is Sergio Reguilon. The Spaniard has been named by Marca as a player that Atlético will not be persevering with.

There is also a consensus to reinforce both full-backs, completely ruling out the continuity of Reguilón and Doherty.

The return of Sergio to N17 wouldn’t shock anyone, the player that didn’t quite cut it at Spurs has been equally uninspiring in La Liga and has struggled to gain meaningful minutes. The irony, of course, is that with the wholesale imbalance within the Spurs squad, Reguilon could feasibly come back and find an open berth waiting for him.

All eyes will be on whom the Spurs board appoints in the summer and who they eventually manage to shake off in terms of substandard playing personnel. Whatever next season’s rebuild is going to look like, it surely cannot feature this class of failure, if it is to succeed.
