Greavsie Latest: Spurs Legend Out Of Hospital & Recovering At Home

This week is a rare thing in 2020 thus far – a good news week for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

After Monday’s reversal on the PR disaster that was the furlough debacle, it has been confirmed this morning that Jimmy Greaves is out of hospital.

The club’s record goalscorer was taken into an Essex hospital last Tuesday with an unspecified health problem, although not Coronavirus related.

Greaves suffered a stroke five years ago and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since, battling with the aftermath.

Thankfully the 80-year-old is now back at home, recovering from his latest scare with his wife Irene, his son has confirmed.

Andy Greaves is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Mum was delighted to welcome Dad home last night (Tuesday) and we can’t thank the doctors and nurses, and all the NHS staff who cared for him, enough.

“He hasn’t been a well man for some time but the way he keeps fighting everything that comes at him continues to make us proud.

“As well as all those who have cared for Dad in the past week, and in the past five years, we would like to thank the public for their support.

“Dad has been touched by all the messages we have been able to pass on — it means a lot to him and to us as a family.”

Greaves is the greatest goalscorer in the history of English football, netting 357 times in the top-flight and 44 times in 57 games for his country.
