Goldstein tips Spurs to be firmly in the title mix come to the New Year

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur is one of the clubs having a great summer with the signings they have had so far. Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, and Ivan Perišić are some names that have arrived in north London.

Manager Antonio Conte is beginning to have a squad that wants to perform well in the UEFA Champions League and finish in the top four. The Italian tactician wants to end Spurs’ trophy drought, which dates back to 2008 when they lifted the League Cup.

However, Andy Goldstein thinks Tottenham can do more than end their drought by winning a domestic cup. Goldstein says Conte’s squad will knock on the door of the Premier League title next season.

“The only thing I say is with City, Haaland coming in, we don’t know. I think he’ll smash it personally, but he does divide opinion, right. And say, you’re going to have to play a style of football and played for a few years, and that’s concentrated, so they’ll be different,” Goldstein said on talkSPORT.

“I think Liverpool, as great as Liverpool are; they didn’t beat any of the top four last season. They got to all those finals but didn’t score a goal in it. I just wonder if Spurs will be knocking on the door. I’ve said it before; I think they will. I think, come the New Year, let’s say February. I think Spurs will be with maybe five or six points.”

There’s no doubt that Spurs could have an outside chance to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League crown. Conte has won the trophy and knows what it takes to win the league, so Spurs have the manager if they want to leap over the two clubs that dominated English football last season.
