Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham transfer target Ivan Toney will 100% leave the club next year.
The Brentford striker is one of the names linked with a move to Spurs as a Harry Kane replacement since the summer.
Tottenham lost their superstar striker to Bayern Munich in August and have not really replaced him with an out and out striker.
They did sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest on deadline day but Johnson is a versatile attacker who can play anywhere in attack.
Spurs are reportedly still keen on signing a striker and Toney could still be one of the options.
Speaking on the The Daily Briefing, Romano claimed that Toney is 100% leaving the club in in 2024.
He said:
“I think Toney is going to leave Brentford in 2024 – 100%, that’s the feeling of those close to him, so let’s see if that’s going to be in January or the summer transfer window.
“Chelsea have an interest, but also other clubs in England and some Italian clubs.
“He’s always been appreciated by many clubs, though England probably looks the most likely destination because he wants to continue in the Premier League.”
Currently serving a ban imposed by the FA due to betting-related charges, Toney’s availability on the pitch will be limited until mid-January 2024.
Last month, Toney changed his agency, switching to CAA Stellar agency which is well-known for representing some of football’s biggest names, including the likes of Jack Grealish, Eduardo Camavinga, and former Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale.
The switch of agency itself indicates that the player is planning a move.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has previously insisted that the striker us not for sale unless a bid worth more than £100million is put on the table.
It remains to be seen whether any club makes that kind of offer or if the club agrees to sell him on a reduced fee considering his current contract with the club expires in 2025.
