‘Get it done’ – Manager tells club to sign 27-year-old with 38 goals and 39 assists

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has requested his club to go and sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

The midfielder who has struggled to establish himself as a Tottenham regular since signing has played his way into the side capitalising on the injury to James Maddison.

The 27-year-old has been quite impressive in the past few games, scoring back to back goals against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Barcelona had shown interest in Lo Celso in the summer transfer window, with manager Xavi considering him a prime target to replace Sergio Busquets.

A move did not materialise at that time but now as per recent reports they have renewed their efforts to sign him, especially following an injury setback to their rising star Gavi.

And as per the Thomas, Xavi is ‘determined to sign’ the midfielder who has 38 goals and 39 assists in his career. He has ‘requested the club’ to get the deal done for him in the upcoming transfer window.

The player has 18 months left in his current contract. Spurs have the likes of Bentancur and Maddison out injured and will be without Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr for several weeks in January.

While Ange might be keen on keeping him until the end of the season, Levy and co might have an eye on cashing in on him to try and get the most out him financially.

But the only way selling Lo Celso would make sense is if they sign a midfielder or two in the January window.
