Manchester United legend and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has now heaped praise on the Tottenham Hotspur summer signing James Maddison.
Neville believes that Maddison has been the most important player in the Premier League so far this season.
“I think so, biggest impact on a club. Just his enthusiasm. Look, we’ve done Friday night football’s for five-six years when he was at Leicester and he’s brilliant to have around. Great to come to interviews. They’ve just got to keep him fit, keep him buzzing and keep feeding him because he’s just so influential,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
The £40 million signing has hit the ground running at Tottenham and he has been a key player for them. He has helped them climb to the top of the Premier League table and Spurs are still unbeaten in the Premier League.
They will look to return to the UEFA Champions League and Neville believes that Tottenham should look to keep Maddison fit and firing until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old has been hugely influential in the final third and he helped create numerous opportunities for his teammates. The former Leicester City midfielder has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past but few would have expected him to perform the way he has done so far.
Maddison’s form has been rewarded with national team call-ups as well and he will be hoping to cement his place in the England starting lineup ahead of the European Championships.
It will be interesting to see if Maddison can sustain his current run of form and help Tottenham challenge for major trophies this season.
