‘Further talks expected’: Journalist says Spurs want 24-yr-old who is ‘expected to leave’ today

By Saikat -

Leeds United winger Daniel James has been linked with a move away from Elland Road and Tottenham are reportedly one of the clubs interested in him.

The 24-year-old has done well since his move to Leeds and he is reportedly happy to continue with the Whites.

Antonio Conte is keen on adding more depth to the wide areas and James is a target for him.

According to Dan Kilpatrick from Evening Standard, Spurs have held talks with Leeds regarding a move for James but they are not the frontrunners for his signature.

However, further talks are expected today and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement.

The report says: “Spurs have held talks over signing James as a replacement for Bryan Gil, who is wanted on loan by Valencia, but are not thought to be the front-runners for his signature at this stage – although further talks are expected today.”

James is unlikely to get regular game time at Spurs and time will tell whether it will be a good move for him, provided it happens.

Spurs are undoubtedly a major step up from Leeds and they can offer him Champions League football. However, the priority for James should be to play every week at this stage of his career. He will know all about sitting on the bench at a top club from his experience at Manchester United.

The player has been linked with Fulham and Everton as well.
