“From what I’m hearing, it’s true” – Romano confirms Tottenham’s interest in highly rated striker with 38 goals

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Tottenham transfer target Santiago Gimenez.

Gimenez has attracted interest from some of the top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Dortmund, Inter and Tottenham after his recent performances.

The Mexican international has scored 38 goals and assisted 6 in 54 appearances for the Dutch club since joining the club last summer.

In his debut season for Feyenoord, he scored 15 goals and assisted 3. This season he already has 12 goals and 2 assists in 8 games.

Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest regarding the Mexican, confirming that he is someone Tottenham ‘appreciate’ with the club sending scouts to watch him play recently.

He claimed that the club continues to monitor the player for now but at the moment there have been no negotiations.

Romano also suggested that while there is no ongoing negotiation, Gimenez’s price tag could be in the range of €45-50 million, as speculated by some industry sources.

Writing for Caughtoffside’s Daily Briefing, he said:

“I think it’s going to be an interesting situation for Santiago Gimenez – we’ve heard stories about Tottenham and Real Madrid in recent weeks after an intermediary spoke about the situation, but the player has since clarified that it is only his father taking care of his future. No agent, no intermediary, the only person taking care of his future is his father.”

“From what I’m hearing, it’s true that Tottenham appreciate the player, and they’ve sent their scouts to follow him recently, though they also had people monitoring Feyenoord last season as they were interested in the manager Arne Slot.”

“He was a candidate to be Tottenham manager before they went for Ange Postecoglou, but for sure they’re continuing to monitor Gimenez now as well, though there are many other clubs also interested in the player.”

“At the moment there is no negotiation, so it’s too early to say where he could be going, but in my opinion it seems likely that it would take something like €45-50m to sign him – this is not something from inside the club, but some sources inside the industry believe that could be the price tag.”

However, Feyenoord has reportedly blocked any potential transfer for the upcoming January window, meaning discussions about a move will have to wait until the following summer.

Signing the 22-year-old Mexican striker would be a significant statement of intent for Tottenham, especially if they manage to outcompete several top clubs vying for his signature.

Gimenez’s impressive goal-scoring record and performances have made him a sought-after talent in European football, and his future destination will likely be a subject of great interest and competition among potential suitors.
