‘from what I am hearing…’: Romano drops update on 23-year-old’s Tottenham future

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes Bryan Gil will leave Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window.

Tottenham are looking to bring in a quality striker and they would be willing to cash in on players like Bryan Gil in order to raise some funds. Scoring goals wasn’t a problem for the North London club in the recently concluded season. But, they did lose their cutting edge with Harry Kane leaving the club for Bayern Munich last summer.

Spurs did a reasonably good job in the 2023/24 season without bringing in a replacement, but they are now looking to sign a top-quality forward in the summer.

Signing a new attacking player is a priority for Tottenham and Fabrizio Romano believes it could lead to one of their forwards leaving the club. According to the transfer expert, Bryan Gil will be the one who could leave on a permanent transfer.

While speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano said: “The idea for Tottenham, from what I am hearing, is to add one more offensive player also, because there is a concrete possibility to see maybe one player leave in that position.

“For example, Bryan Gil, I think this summer he can go, he can try a new opportunity, I think on a permanent transfer.

“This is what I’m told, and so they are considering several opportunities, also because Alejo Veliz will return from Sevilla but he will leave on loan again.”

Meanwhile, Gil had already fallen down the pecking order at the North London club and he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. As a result, Romano feels a permanent exit is on the cards.

The 23-year-old joined Tottenham back in the summer of 2021 from Sevilla. Spurs had a lot of expectations from him but unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan. He has failed to establish himself in the North London club’s first team and has had loan spells at Valencia and Sevilla.

While Gil was a part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad for the 2023/24 season, he was only involved in 12 matches and racked up less than 300 minutes of first-team football. His contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2026. A departure in the summer looks like a real possibility.
