Tottenham attacker Dejan Kulusevski has received significant praise from former England international Gabriel Agbonlahor for his standout performances this season, in particular during the 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Kulusevski played a key role in the victory, scoring Spurs’ second goal early in the second half.
He capitalised on a deflected cross from Brennan Johnson, skillfully flicking the ball past André Onana, doubling Tottenham’s advantage.
The Swedish forward’s goal was pivotal in securing the win for the North London club, solidifying their dominance in the match.
Agbonlahor, impressed with Kulusevski’s performance, believes the 24-year-old is rediscovering his form after a somewhat inconsistent season last year.
He suggested that Kulusevski may be better suited to playing in a more central, number ten role, rather than being confined to the wing, noting that the Swede appeared faster, more confident, and demonstrated sharper decision-making on the ball.
Agbonlahor also praised Kulusevski’s off-the-ball movement, which contributed to his goal and allowed him to create opportunities for his teammates.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit said:
“I thought he was outstanding and just love the way he’s turned into a player who is showing consistency.
“Last season he was poor but this season, he’s becoming a lot better. He was positive, looked quicker than normal and was making the right passes.
“He took his goal well – people think it’s a tap-in but it’s clever. It’s looping over the keeper. I just love the way Kulusevski wants to get on the ball and maybe not playing on the wing suits him.
“Coming in and playing in that number ten position suits him better than being stuck out on the right. Kulusevski, with his goal and all-round performance, was top!”
Kulusevski’s impressive display earned him the highest rating on the pitch, with an 8.7 score on FotMob. He completed 89% of his passes and created nine chances—more than any player in a Premier League game over the last three seasons. (StatMuse FC)
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou will likely be pleased with Kulusevski’s resurgence, especially with Son Heung-min unavailable, and will hope he can maintain this level of performance moving forward.
