Former Premier League star says Tottenham ace has been the ‘flop of the season’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison from Everton at the start of the season.

The North London side decided to pay around £60 million for the Brazilian international striker in the summer and he was expected to hit the ground running.

So far, it has been a very disappointing season for Richarlison and he has scored just once in the league for his new club.

Reacting to his performances this season, former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has revealed that Tottenham are a better team without him and the Brazilian has been the flop of the season.

“You look at Richarlison, how many chances is he going to get? For me he’s the flop of the season. He’s going to cost Spurs £60m. Three goals in 33 games all comps. A goal every ten games. One goal in 25 PL games. One goal since September. Substituted again today. You were a better team when he came off. No more pigeon dancing today was there?,” he said on Talksport.

Richarlison has previously proven his quality with clubs like Everton and Watford. It will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old can get back to his best once again.

Richarlison is a hard-working player who can slot into multiple attacking roles. He was expected to be a valuable member of the Tottenham starting lineup when the North London giants decided to slash the cash on him.

The transfer has clearly not worked out and Spurs will be hoping that Richarlison can justify his big-money move to the London club in the coming season.

Tottenham have been overly reliant on Harry Kane for goals this season and they will need players like Richarlison and Son Heung-min to step up in the coming months.

It has been a disappointing season for Tottenham and they are set to miss out on Champions League qualification. They are currently without a permanent manager as well after parting ways with Antonio Conte.
