Former Premier League ace expects 44-year-old manager to join “great club” Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Feyenoord manager Arne Slot.

The 44-year-old has done an impressive job at the Dutch club and he has helped them win the Eredivisie title this season.

He has been heavily linked with a move to the north London club and former Premier League midfielder (with Stoke City) Ibrahim Afellay believes that Slot is likely to end up at Tottenham.

He claims that the 44-year-old manager has taken Feyenoord as far as he could have, and he needs to take the next step in his career.

“If that club applies, you have to be a big boy to refuse. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes then. Tottenham Hotspur is a great club, very different from Southampton or Aston Villa”, he said via FeyenoordPings.

“At Feyenoord, Slot reached the maximum, he got more out than in. Do you expect him to reach the Champions League final next year?”.

The 44-year-old has clearly impressed with his progressive approach at the Dutch club and he could be a good fit for Tottenham. The north London giants need to bring in a manager with an attacking philosophy and Slot seems like the perfect addition for them.

The 44-year-old could be an inexpensive appointment as well.

Slot is likely to be tempted if Tottenham come calling this summer. It would be a major step up in his career and he would get to showcase his qualities at the highest level.

However, the 44-year-old is not a proven winner at the highest level and his appointment might not appease the fans. It has been a disappointing campaign for Tottenham so far and the fans will be hoping that Daniel Levy can bring in a proven winner to manage the club this summer.
