Former PL striker tears into Tottenham ace, says he is League Two quality

By Saikat -

Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has slammed the performances of Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison.

The 26-year-old has not been able to live up to the expectations since the big money from Everton and his performances have been rather inconsistent. He put on a mediocre display in the recent 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup.

Agbonlahor has now revealed that the former Everton striker is not a good finisher and he is not good enough with his link-up play either. He added that the only reason he is playing in the Premier League is because he is Brazilian. The former Aston Villa striker also added that Richarlison could easily be playing in League Two.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I was watching the game and thinking ‘I’m wasting my evening, I could be watching a new series on Netflix’ 60 minutes in, I turned it off, it was dreadful,” the former Aston Villa skipper said.

“Richarlison, he can’t control the ball, he’s not strong enough to hold the ball up, he’s not good with link-up play, he can’t run in behind because he’s not quick enough, he can’t finish.

“Honestly, he’d be playing in League Two if he wasn’t Brazilian, I don’t rate him one bit.”

He added: “Timo Werner is going to be a better option than Richarlison and it’s only a six-month loan, I don’t blame Ange.”

While there is no doubt that the Brazilian has been an underwhelming capture for Tottenham, he is good enough to play in the Premier League. He has shown his quality with Everton in the past.

Richarlison is not a prolific goalscorer but he can be a very useful creative forward. Meanwhile, Agbonlahor has tipped Timo Werner to succeed at Tottenham and he believes that the German international would be a better option for Tottenham compared to the Brazilian.

The former Chelsea striker will join Tottenham on loan until the end of the season and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running.
