Former Gunner worried that Spurs will blow Arsenal away with their quality

By Bruce Grove -

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell is worried about how good Tottenham have become, and ahead of the north London derby this weekend, he reckons that Jose Mourinho’s men have what it takes to sweep Arsenal and other top English teams aside.

The Lilywhites spent many years as the second-best team in north London, but times have changed and the appointment of Mourinho as the latest Tottenham manager means that Spurs are genuine title contenders while Arsenal has slumped to mid-table mediocrity.

Tottenham’s quality has seen them stay top of the Premier League table ahead of the match, while Arsenal has remained outside the Premier League’s top ten.

The Gunners strengthened their team in the summer and they even won the FA Cup and their fans obviously hoped for better things to come.

Yet, Campbell doesn’t think that his former team stands a chance against Spurs and he believes several Premier League sides will similarly struggle to stop Mourinho’s team.

“Spurs have got a lot of quality players in that squad,” he told Football Insider

“They’ve got internationals all over the shop and they’ve bought in Gareth Bale, someone who knows how to do it and with the winning mentality.

“Am I worried about Spurs? Yes, I am, to be honest. They are trouble, for Arsenal and plenty of other teams.

“You look at the quality in that attack – Harry Kane, Son, Gareth Bale, Lucas Moura, [Steven] Bergwijn – it’s scary. Then you’ve got [Tanguy] Ndombele and [Giovani] Lo Celso behind them.

“Dele Alli is nowhere near the team and he was one of the best young players in the world a few years ago.

“They are not as strong as Liverpool and Man City but they’ve turned it around compared to where they were.

“It’s amazing it’s happened so quickly, but Mourinho knows what he’s doing.”
