“For me the fundamental difference was efficiency obviously” Bielsa honest about where Tottenham was superior

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham beat Leeds United 3-0 this afternoon as they finally got back to winning ways in the Premier League.

It was the fifth meeting between Jose Mourinho and Marcelo Bielsa. It was also a game that would see attack face defence in terms of team tactics.

With Leeds on a run of two straights wins and Spurs having no wins since they beat Arsenal, the Lilywhites were expected to struggle in the game.

However, goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld helped Spurs to all three points.

Bielsa’s side played their game and had opportunities to score, but Spurs took their chances while the Whites couldn’t do the same for themselves.

After the match, Bielsa told the press conference that the difference between Spurs and his team was simply efficiency.

Mourinho’s men were clinical in front of the goal while his boys struggled to take their chances.

He said as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post: “For our opponents to create only a few more chances than us they came about through errors we could have avoided,” he said.

“We lost some balls when we were building up from the back. We weren’t winning the second balls on set-pieces, we also suffered a goal from a set-piece and in the game we created 10 and didn’t score, they created 12 and scored three. For me the fundamental difference was efficiency obviously.

“The fact is that their offensive game came about through errors we could have avoided.”

Yep. We could have signed all the rumored players. Tell us how we did not. In the past 7 years. Jack Grealish and Paulo Dybala are the only 2 players we have actually let get away based on transactions in the public domain. Jack we should have wrapped up that summer and Dybala we were nof willing to pony up the image money.

Eze is a talented player. Another one we should have signed.

Unlike Spurs Leeds created multiple chances and converted none.
Whatever the price offered 2 irreplaceable Spurs players are Kane and
Son. Where we would be without them is anyones guess.

Except Spurs wasn’t clinical at all. If they had been, it would have been 6-0.

I thought we were excellent today, except for that. Bergwijn, Kane and Son guilty of not scoring when they should. Now, that happens but we really wasn’t clinical. That has become a cliché when Spurs wins.

Great game today.
